Before you submit

Read through the preview with this list. It takes ten minutes and prevents most of the reasons work is sent back.

  • The work fits the call’s topic and the track you chose.
  • The kind is right: abstract, poster, full paper or another.
  • It is within the word limit.
  • It uses the reference style the call asks for.
  • The title says what the work is about, without abbreviations.
  • The abstract gives the problem, the method, a result with a number, and what it means.
  • Four to six keywords, which add to the title.
  • Every author is listed, one entry each, in the agreed order.
  • Every author has their own email address.
  • Names are spelled as each author wants them printed.
  • Affiliations are written in full.
  • Every author has agreed to this submission.
  • The corresponding author is the right person.
  • Headings are in order.
  • Every figure and table has a caption and is mentioned in the text.
  • Every abbreviation is explained the first time.
  • Units are given, and are the same throughout.
  • It has been read by someone who did not write it.
  • The References panel shows no citation without a reference.
  • No reference is left that is never cited.
  • Each reference has its authors, year, title and source.
  • Your name and institution are not in the text, the figures or the file names.
  • You refer to your own earlier work as you would to anyone’s: “Okafor (2025) showed”, not “we showed earlier”.
  • Acknowledgments and funding are in the declarations, not in the text. They are kept from reviewers there.
  • The work is your own, and other people’s words and figures are credited.
  • It is not under review anywhere else.
  • Permissions are in hand for anything reused.
  • Ethics approval and consent are stated, where they apply.
